Dar es Salaam. After representing the nation in international competitions, Simba are finally returning to Premier League action, determined to restore their pride and reclaim the top spot.
Today, Wednesday, with high morale and having secured six points in the CAF Confederation Cup Group A, Simba will face Kengold at the KMC Complex Stadium in Mwenge, Dar es Salaam.
The match will see Fadlu Davids’ squad take on the league’s bottom-placed team.
Simba, currently in third place, had been leading the Premier League with 28 points.
However, as rivals such as Azam continued with league matches during Simba’s national duties, Azam FC overtook them and are now ahead with four more matches played.
Simba now face the significant task of winning this game against Kengold to regain control of the league.
Head coach Fadlu Davids said his players are well-prepared for the match despite limited preparation time.
“We are proud of our players and the level of performance they’ve displayed in international matches,” said Fadlu.
Adding: “We have an opportunity to grow stronger. Although we’ve played tough, high-stakes international games, we don’t want to take a break in the league.
“Our goal is to reclaim the top spot by winning every match, and the game against Kengold is very important to us.”
In their last five league matches, Simba has demonstrated exceptional form, winning all games without conceding a single goal. This is a clear sign of their strong defense and attacking prowess, despite challenges in finishing.
In league matches, Simba defeated Tanzania Prisons (1-0), Namungo (3-0), Mashujaa (1-0), KMC (4-0), and Pamba Jiji (1-0).
The ten goals scored in these matches underline Simba’s excellent form, with an average of two goals per game.
Kengold, on the other hand, is struggling at the bottom of the league standings with just six points.
They have won only one match and drawn three in 14 league games. Their poor form is evident, having conceded 25 goals and gone winless for a long stretch.
In their last five matches, Kengold has lost three times to Namungo (3-2), Pamba Jiji (1-0), and Tanzania Prisons (1-0), managing only two draws against Dodoma Jiji (2-2) and Coastal Union (1-1).
It is clear that Simba will present a formidable challenge for Kengold.
However, Kengold coach Omary Kapilima has expressed his determination to fight.
“The Premier League is a tough challenge, but we won’t accept being defeated easily. We go in with faith, despite our struggles. Simba is a great team, but we will fight with all our strength,” said Kapilima.
One of Kengold’s main weapons is their player Ibrahim Joshua, who has been instrumental for the team, scoring four goals this season.
Joshua, with experience playing professional football in Kenya, is one of the players capable of challenging Simba with his expertise.
Simba, on the other hand, boasts the talent of Kibu, who has been outstanding in international competitions, scoring two goals in their recent match against CS Sfaxien.
Additionally, Simba has Charles Jean Ahoua, who has scored five goals and provided four assists in the league. These stars are expected to shine in this match.
