Tanzania and Saudi Arabia boost cooperation in energy, sustainability

Dar es Salaam. In a world increasingly focused on sustainability and innovation, Tanzania and Saudi Arabia have recognized multiple areas ripe for enhanced cooperation.

The Minister for Energy for Saudi Arabia, Mr Mohammed Albrahim, announced at the end of last week plans for his country to invest significantly in infrastructure development, environmental conservation, and enhancements in the oil and gas sector, as well as renewable energy and clean cooking solutions.

The Saudi Arabia’s Minister for Energy, Mr Mohammed Albrahim, announced at the end of last week a significant investment plan aimed at bolstering infrastructure development, advancing environmental conservation, and enhancing both the oil and gas sector and renewable energy initiatives.

 The plans also include a focus on clean cooking solutions, marking a comprehensive approach to sustainable energy practices.

At a high-profile conference in Riyadh, he stated: “We are committed to strengthening our energy sector to meet the rising demands for energy, and we seek to enhance our partnerships with countries like Tanzania.”

Mr Albrahim remarked that, despite having discovered substantial oil reserves, they are aligning with global policies by investing in clean energy that preserves the environment.

He added that Saudi Arabia acknowledges the efforts being made by Tanzania under its President, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, as a leader in implementing the agenda for clean cooking solutions.

Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Energy echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the long-standing relationship between the two nations in the energy sector.

She affirmed that Tanzania shall continue to collaborate with Saudi Arabia in enhancing the energy sector, particularly in Oil and Gas, Clean Cooking Solutions, and Renewable Energy.

“By working together, we can harness our natural resources and improve the quality of life for our people,” she said.

The partnership aimed to leverage Saudi Arabia’s expertise in oil and gas alongside Tanzania’s abundant solar and wind resources.
