Dar es Salaam. Yanga continued their dominant run in the Tanzanian Premier League on Wednesday (Christmas Day), securing a commanding 4-0 win over Dodoma Jiji.
The match saw Prince Dube extend his goal-scoring streak, bringing his tally to six goals after scoring in four consecutive matches.
Dube’s remarkable form began with a goal against TP Mazembe in the CAF Champions League, followed by three straight league goals, and he is now tied with teammate Clement Mzize, who also found the net twice in this match.
The win marked Yanga’s seventh consecutive away victory in the league this season, with an impressive record of 12 goals scored and none conceded on the road.
It was also their ninth victory in 10 meetings against Dodoma Jiji since the latter’s promotion to the Premier League in 2020.
As a result, Yanga moved to 36 points, just one behind leaders Simba SC, with both teams having played 14 matches.
Mzize opened the scoring in the 19th minute, heading in a corner from Pacome Zouzoua.
He doubled his tally in the 38th minute, finishing a perfect assist from Mudathir Yahya to bring his season total to five goals, equal to Dube’s.
In the 29th minute, Yanga was awarded a penalty after a tackle on Dube by Dodoma goalkeeper Mohammed Hussein, despite replays suggesting minimal contact.
Stéphane Aziz Ki converted the penalty to make it 2-0.
In the second half, Yanga continued to dominate, and Dube completed the rout with a fourth goal in the 63rd minute.
He finished a fine pass from Mudathir Yahya, marking his sixth goal in four matches, which also included a goal in the CAF Champions League.
The partnership between Dube and Mzize has been incredible for Yanga, as they have now scored a combined 10 goals.
The victory also extended coach Sead Ramovic’s perfect run, with four consecutive league wins, having beaten Namungo (2-0 away), Mashuja (3-2 home), Tanzania Prisons (4-0 home), and now Dodoma Jiji (4-0 away).
Dodoma Jiji’s loss dropped them to 11th place with 16 points, while Namungo won 2-1 against Fountain Gate earlier in the day.
Yanga will look to continue their strong form when they face Fountain Gate in their next match on Sunday.
