This is Simba!

Dar es Salaam. Simba SC have closed the curtain on 2024 in style, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Singida Black Stars in an electrifying NBC Premier League clash held on Saturday at Liti Stadium.

The solitary goal of the match, which oozed class and precision, came in the 43rd minute through Simba’s midfield maestro, Fabrice Ngoma.

His perfectly timed header, following a pinpoint cross from Charles Jean Ahoua, capped off a wave of relentless attacks led by Kibu Denis and Ellie Mpanzu.

The win was more than just three points— it was a statement of intent, ensuring Simba SC finish the year perched at the summit of the Premier League table with 40 points.

Their arch-rivals, Yanga SC, trail four points behind in second place with 36 points.

Reactions from the stars

After the match, Fabrice Ngoma could not hide his joy, hailing his team’s determination and highlighting the importance of the victory:

“This was a very tough game, but we came into it well-prepared and determined to fight for every ball.”

“Scoring this goal means a lot not just to me, but to the entire Simba family.

“Finishing the year at the top of the table is a reward for our hard work, but it’s also motivation to keep pushing. I am grateful to my teammates for their incredible support and to our fans for always standing by us.”

Meanwhile, Singida Black Stars’ striker, a league top scorer Elvis Rupia, who has so far netted eight goals this season, admitted the match was a bitter pill to swallow but emphasized the lessons his team would take away:

“We gave it everything, but unfortunately, we couldn’t capitalize on the chances we created. Simba is a highly experienced side, and they made us pay for the few mistakes we made.”

“Of course, we’re disappointed, but this game has taught us a lot. Personally, I’ll keep working hard to ensure I contribute more to the team in our upcoming matches. This isn’t the end for us it’s just a wake-up call.”

A game of two halves

The match was a display of contrasting fortunes.

Simba SC, full of confidence and tactical discipline, dominated large stretches of the game, with their defense standing tall against the desperate attacks from Singida.

Singida Black Stars, despite boasting the league’s top scorer, were unable to break through Simba’s organized backline.

The thrilling encounter was a testament to the intensity of the NBC Premier League, where every match feels like a final.

For Simba, this victory not only cements their dominance, but also sends a clear warning to their rivals that they are firmly in the driver’s seat as the league heads into its second half.

Singida, on the other hand, will need to regroup and address their shortcomings if they hope to challenge for a top position.

Their inability to convert chances in critical moments proved costly, but the team’s fighting spirit promises better days ahead.

Looking ahead

With the league’s top spot secure for now, Simba SC enters 2025 with momentum, confidence, and a clear mission: to reclaim the Premier League title.

Singida Black Stars, meanwhile, will be keen to bounce back stronger and rekindle their early-season form.

As the battle for supremacy intensifies, fans can expect even more drama, excitement, and unforgettable moments in the race for glory.
