Key aviation institutions in Tanzania agree on joint revenue distribution

The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA), Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA), Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), and Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) reached the consensus on May 23, 2025 during a formal signing ceremony held at the TAA conference hall within Julius Nyerere International Airport

Dar es Salaam. Four key institutions in Tanzania’s aviation sector have signed a joint agreement that will govern the sharing of revenue generated from air transport services in the country.

The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA), Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA), Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), and Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) reached the consensus on May 23, 2025 during a formal signing ceremony held at the TAA conference hall within Julius Nyerere International Airport.

The agreement follows the establishment of an electronic revenue-sharing platform, known as the Ankara Jumuishi, which is designed to enhance transparency, efficiency, and productivity.

The system will automatically allocate collected revenues directly to each institution based on pre-agreed percentages. It is expected to come into effect on July 1, 2025.

Speaking during the signing event, TAA Director General, Mr Abdul Mombokaleo, said the new system will simplify the revenue distribution process and ensure timely remittances to the respective agencies, thereby accelerating the country’s development agenda.

“This platform will promote institutional efficiency and ensure that each party receives its rightful share promptly, ultimately boosting service delivery across the aviation sector,” he noted.

Acting Director General of TMA and Vice Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Dr Ladislaus Chang’a, extended gratitude to his fellow leaders for their cooperation in finalising the system. He emphasised that the new arrangement will significantly reduce the time and resources previously spent in tracking and reconciling service-based revenues.

On his part, ATCL Managing Director, Engineer Peter Ulanga, commended the collective commitment shown by all parties in responding to directives from President Samia Suluhu Hassan to ensure government systems are interoperable.

Meanwhile, Acting Director General of TCAA, Mr Daniel Malanga, lauded the milestone, noting that it marks a step forward in improving the delivery of services at airports across the country.
