Dar es Salaam. The Office of the Treasury Registrar (OTR) has urged public institutions to use the 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, commonly known as Sabasaba, as a platform to showcase the services provided by the government.
Speaking on Monday, July 1, 2025, at the Sabasaba grounds, Mr Sabato Kosuri, Acting Head of the Public Relations and Communication Unit at the OTR, stated that citizens are the rightful owners of public institutions and therefore have the right to be informed about the investments made.
The government, through the OTR, has invested a total of Sh86.25 trillion in public institutions and companies in which it holds minority shares.
Of this amount, Sh83.33 trillion has been invested in 152 institutions in which the government holds majority shares, while Sh2.82 trillion has been invested in 56 companies where the government has minority ownership.
Mr Kosuri said that the Sabasaba Trade Fair is part of the ongoing implementation of Her Excellency President, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision to enhance the efficiency of public institutions, aiming to generate productivity and tangible returns on government investments in these institutions.
“As aides to the President, we are committed to creating an environment of accountability, as public institutions belong to the public and are directly accountable to them,” he said.
Mr Kosuri added that the participation of the OTR and the institutions it oversees at the Sabasaba Fair will offer stakeholders and the general public an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.
“Let’s use the Sabasaba exhibition as a platform to collect feedback and inform stakeholders and the public at large about the initiatives and actions being undertaken by the Sixth Phase Government under the leadership of Her Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan,” said Mr. Kosuri.
He concluded by inviting various stakeholders and all citizens to visit booth No. 39 of the OTR, located at the Kilimanjaro Hall.
