Dar es Salaam. Africa’s gaming platform betPawa has recorded a groundbreaking milestone after paying out a record Sh2.87 billion ($1.1 million) to eight Aviator winners from across the continent—marking the largest-ever group payout in a single round of the popular online game.
The payout, which totalled Sh2,873,750,000, reflects the rising popularity of Aviator, a crash-style game developed by Spribe, and underscores betPawa’s growing dominance in Africa’s digital gaming space. The historic win was celebrated in Accra, Ghana, and featured players from Cameroon, Ghana, Zambia, Uganda, and Malawi.
According to Spribe, this is the largest group win ever recorded in a single round of Aviator on the African continent.
Among the standout winners was Clovis from Cameroon, who placed two micro-bets of just Sh442 and Sh295 and walked away with a staggering combined payout of Sh807.2 million ($270,000) after hitting multipliers of 500,000x and 750,000x.
He was joined by fellow Cameroonians Godi and Hyacinte, who each turned a mere 100 FCFA (Sh295/$0.17) into Sh403.6 million ($135,000) with a 750,000x multiplier.
Another Cameroonian, Jules, placed two identical 100 FCFA bets and won Sh462.3 million ($155,010) using a 430,584.98x multiplier. Meanwhile, Carlos won Sh176 million ($58,947) from two 200 FCFA bets, while Mathieu turned just 125 FCFA (Sh370/$0.22) into Sh76 million ($25,431).
From Ghana, Prince Adusei of Kumasi staked Sh16,740 ($0.62) and secured Sh497.5 million ($193,079) at a multiplier of 307,692.31x.
In Zambia, Sidney Kayuma transformed a K6 (Sh6,450/$0.25) bet into K3,250,000 (Sh351.3 million/$136,110), courtesy of a 500,000x multiplier.
In Uganda, a player secured UGX 450 million (Sh288 million/$121,500) at a 2,250x multiplier, while in Malawi, another player turned MWK 481 (Sh740/$0.28) into more than Sh295 million ($124,000). One individual used MWK 5,520 (Sh8,480/$3.19) to win big, while another turned just MWK 161 (Sh250/$0.09) into Sh126 million ($53,000), demonstrating the game’s potential for massive returns from tiny stakes.
The winning round underscored betPawa’s promise of enabling life-changing wins from the lowest stakes on the market. Aviator, the headline game on the platform, offers a maximum payout of up to Sh650 million ($250,000) per round.
To honour the winners, betPawa held a high-profile celebration in Accra, providing business-class flights, luxury accommodation, chauffeured transport, custom-made gifts, and a private jet experience over Ghana. The event was designed not only to celebrate but to elevate the status of the winners.
“Big wins come with big responsibilities,” said Borah Ndanyungu, Head of Local Marketing and CSR at betPawa. “That’s why our platform integrates smart tools and educational resources to promote responsible gaming. We want everyone to enjoy the game safely and stay in control.”
Alongside the celebrations, betPawa announced the launch of a financial empowerment programme aimed at helping major winners plan for long-term success. Delivered in collaboration with the Gaming Commission of Ghana and a team of financial advisors, the initiative offers guidance on investment, saving, and financial planning.
“This is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do,” Ms Ndanyungu added. “We love big winners—in fact, we’re built for them. We offer the lowest minimum stakes and the highest possible wins on Aviator in Africa. When our players win big, we celebrate even bigger.”
With its latest record-setting payout, betPawa has reaffirmed its position as a trailblazer in Africa’s iGaming industry—proving that even the smallest bets can yield monumental rewards.
