Zambian President commends Tanzania’s participation in 97th Agriculture and Trade Fair

Speaking in Lusaka after touring Tanzania’s pavilion, President Hichilema. commended Tanzania for showcasing specialist medical services and transport solutions that he said were not only of high standard but also valuable to the region’s development

Lusaka. Zambian President, Hakainde Hichilema, has lauded Tanzania for its strong participation in the 97th Zambia Agriculture and Commercial Show, describing the country’s involvement as a firm step in bolstering bilateral cooperation in healthcare and transport between the two neighbouring nations.

Speaking in Lusaka after touring Tanzania’s pavilion on August 2, President Hichilema. commended Tanzania for showcasing specialist medical services and transport solutions that he said were not only of high standard but also valuable to the region’s development.

“Tanzanian Ambassador has briefed me thoroughly about the specialist services offered by the Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI), Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI), and Mbeya Zonal Referral Hospital. These are world-class services, and I extend my sincere congratulations to the people of Tanzania,” said President Hichilema.

He further observed that Tanzania’s presence at the annual exhibition was a clear demonstration of the depth of bilateral ties between the two countries—ties that he stressed are centred on improving the welfare of their citizens.

“I am pleased to see the Tanzania Ports Authority and Air Tanzania represented here. We thank you for the vital transport and logistics services you offer. Zambia appreciates your contribution to our economy and to the well-being of our people,” President Hichilema added.

For his part, Tanzania’s High Commissioner to Zambia, Lieutenant General Mathew Edward Mkingule, expressed gratitude to President Hichilema for visiting the Tanzanian pavilion, reaffirming Tanzania’s commitment to continued participation in the fair and to the promotion of the country’s healthcare and transport services across the region.

“We are proud to be showcasing here the services offered by five key institutions—JKCI, MOI, Mbeya Zonal Referral Hospital, the Tanzania Ports Authority, and Air Tanzania. These institutions reflect our country’s commitment to delivering top-tier healthcare and reliable transport to our Zambian neighbours,” said Ambassador Mkingule.

He further stressed that Tanzania remained committed to ensuring that Zambian citizens have unhindered access to Tanzanian medical services, in line with regional integration goals under the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Tanzania’s presence at this year’s fair aims to market its specialist medical and transport services to Zambia and other participating countries, reinforcing its role as a regional provider of health and logistical solutions.
