Dar es Salaam. Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa on August 13, 2025, inspected the new buses for the second phase of the Bus Rapid Transit project (BRT-2) alongside key infrastructure, including the main terminal at Mbagala Rangi Tatu and the Gerezani bus station.
During the tour, the Prime Minister also visited the construction site of a dedicated gas refuelling station for the BRT fleet at Mbagala Rangi Tatu in Dar es Salaam.
Addressing project operators at the site, Majaliwa urged them to work round the clock to complete the remaining facilities, ensuring the project begins service within the month.
The inspection was attended by Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament and Coordination) William Lukuvi, Deputy Minister in the President’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government) Zainab Katimba, Secretary-General in the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament and Coordination) Dr Jim Yonazi, as well as officials from the Land Transport Regulatory Authority (LATRA), Dar es Salaam Rapid Transit Agency (DART) and the National Transport Institute (NIT).
The BRT-2 project is expected to enhance public transport efficiency in Dar es Salaam, providing citizens with modern, safe, and rapid services.
