Dar es Salaam. The Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency (PBPA) on December 16, 2025, officially opened bids for fuel procurement to meet the country’s needs for February 2026, with eight out of eleven companies emerging successful across various categories.
The exercise took place at PBPA’s Conference Hall in Dar es Salaam, bringing together both local and international bidders, as well as key stakeholders from the energy sector.
The bid opening forms part of the legal and regulatory framework designed to ensure the nation has adequate and reliable fuel supplies, while adhering to principles of transparency, fair competition, and cost-efficiency for the end consumer.
Speaking on behalf of PBPA’s Chief Executive Officer, the Agency’s Operations Director for Petroleum, Engineer Bruno Tarimo, congratulated the successful bidders.
“I extend my congratulations to all winning bidders. On behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, I urge all suppliers who have secured contracts to complete the required procedures and contractual obligations to ensure that fuel delivery under the Bulk Procurement System (BPS) for February 2026 proceeds efficiently,” he said.
Earlier, the Chairman of the PBPA BPS Tender Committee, Mr Ali Saeed, led the bid opening exercise, announced the winners, and congratulated them on their success.
The event was attended by various stakeholders, including bidders who met the preliminary requirements, representatives of oil marketing companies (OMCs), and other key industry players.
