Although eliminated from the competition, Simba’s victory at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium provides encouragement and a sense of pride as they look ahead to future continental campaigns

Dar es Salaam. Simba SC brought their CAF Champions League group stage campaign to a close with a narrow but respectable 1-0 victory over Stade Malien in a match played today, 14 February 2026, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The fixture marked the sixth and final round of Group D, with Simba determined to finish on a high despite their slim chances of progressing to the quarter-finals.

From the first whistle, the Msimbazi Reds displayed intent and energy, pressing high and taking control of possession in front of their home supporters.

Their bright start paid off as early as the 4th minute when Oura calmly converted to score what proved to be the only goal of the match.

The early breakthrough settled Simba and forced Stade Malien to approach the remainder of the contest with greater caution.

Match statistics reflected Simba’s dominance in key areas.

The Tanzanian side enjoyed 60 per cent possession compared to 40 per cent for the visitors.

Simba registered nine total shots, five of which were on target, while Stade Malien managed ten attempts but only three troubled the goalkeeper.

Importantly, Simba created three clear-cut chances during the match, whereas the visitors failed to fashion any major opportunities.

The second half saw tactical adjustments from both benches as the two sides sought either to extend the lead or find an equaliser.

Stade Malien increased the pressure in the latter stages, but Simba’s defensive line remained disciplined and resolute.

The home side managed the game effectively in the closing minutes, ensuring that their early goal would stand.

At the final whistle, Simba secured their first win of this season’s group stage campaign.

The result sees Simba finish Group D with five points.

Stade Malien top the group with 11 points, followed by Esperance on nine, with both sides advancing to the quarter-finals.

Although eliminated from the competition, Simba’s victory at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium provides encouragement and a sense of pride as they look ahead to future continental campaigns.
