Tanzania participates in Sadc sustainable energy week in Zimbabwe

Discussions are expected to focus on clean energy policies, renewable energy deployment, and strategies for improving energy efficiency across the region

Victoria Falls. Tanzania has joined fellow Southern African nations at the Sustainable Energy Week of the Southern African Development Community (Sadc), currently under way in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

The Tanzanian delegation is led by the country’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, CP Suzana S. Kaganda, alongside the Commissioner for Electricity and Renewable Energy, Innocent Luoga.

The delegation took part in the official welcome reception ahead of the formal sessions of the regional forum.

Opening the preliminary meetings, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Energy, July Moyo, welcomed participants from across the region and called on them to make thorough preparations for the official opening ceremony scheduled for February 25, 2026.

He noted that the meeting is being held under the theme Advancing Regional Economic Growth through Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency.

The SADC Sustainable Energy Week brings together ministers, policymakers, development partners, private sector actors and other stakeholders in the energy sector from member states.

The forum is intended to deepen regional cooperation in sustainable energy development, while promoting investment opportunities across the full value chain of the sector.

Discussions are expected to focus on clean energy policies, renewable energy deployment, and strategies for improving energy efficiency across the region.

Participants will also deliberate on implementation frameworks, regulatory coordination and financing mechanisms to support the transition towards sustainable and inclusive energy systems.

The conference is further designed to strengthen collaboration among SADC member states in addressing shared energy challenges, including access to reliable power, climate resilience and the integration of renewable technologies into national grids.

The Sustainable Energy Week is scheduled to conclude on February 27, 2026, in Victoria Falls, with outcomes expected to shape future regional initiatives and joint programmes in clean energy and energy efficiency across Southern Africa.
