Mchechu applauds TCAA’s role in enhancing aviation sector’s efficiency

Dar es Salaam. The Treasury Registrar, Mr Nehemiah Mchechu, has hailed the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) for its commendable role in bolstering the performance and competitiveness of the country’s aviation sector, attributing recent gains in revenue and stakeholder confidence to the institution’s operational effectiveness.

Speaking during the second session of the TCAA Workers’ Council held in Dodoma, Mr Mchechu underscored the Council’s critical role in shaping decisions that have yielded tangible benefits across the sector.

He described the Council as more than a mere discussion forum, terming it a strategic platform for instituting meaningful workplace reforms.

“This Council is not only a forum for dialogue; it is a bridge towards substantive improvements in the working environment. It is therefore incumbent upon every employee to actively engage in the institution’s development journey,” he remarked.

Mr Mchechu urged members of the Workers’ Council to ensure timely and transparent communication of deliberations to their colleagues in order to promote cohesion and efficiency in the execution of duties.

The Registrar further noted that the TCAA’s contribution to the surge in aviation sector revenue was reflective of its growing regional relevance, citing increased engagement by international stakeholders utilising Tanzanian airspace.

In his address to the Council, TCAA director general, Mr Salim Msangi, said the Authority is committed to improving staff welfare and the overall work environment.

He noted that such efforts were integral to advancing professional service delivery and sustaining the upward trajectory of the aviation sector.

“It is important for every staff member to appreciate that the success of TCAA is borne out of shared effort. The progress we celebrate today is a direct outcome of collaboration, mutual support, and a firm dedication to realising the government’s goal of providing high-quality services to Tanzanians and our wider stakeholder community,” Mr Msangi stated.

The session brought together representatives from various departments within the TCAA, reaffirming the institution’s focus on inclusive decision-making, performance improvement and continuous dialogue.
