Dar es Salaam. The Office of the Treasury Registrar (OTR) has today, April 10, 2025 convened a budget deliberation session with members of the Budget Committee of the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership School in Kibaha, Coast Region.
The session, chaired by the Assistant Director in the Department of Public Commercial Entities Supervision, Peter Maungo, aimed at scrutinising and endorsing TANAPA’s proposed budget for the 2025/2026 financial year.
The budget outlines strategic priorities including expanding investment opportunities, introducing new tourism products, enhancing tourism infrastructure, strengthening strategic security through technological solutions, conservation research and activities, and increasing employment opportunities in accordance with international quality management guidelines (ISO standards).
It also highlights key interventions targeting the control of invasive plant species, mitigation of human-wildlife conflict involving dangerous and destructive animals, community conservation awareness programmes, and implementation of other developmental initiatives.
TANAPA’s Budget Committee was led by the authority’s Conservation Commissioner, Juma Nassoro Kuji, who was accompanied by senior experts from various departments of the organisation.
During the session, Commissioner Kuji presented an in-depth overview of TANAPA’s strategic direction for the forthcoming fiscal year.
He underscored the need for enhanced efficiency in resource utilisation, improved management systems, and reinforced partnerships between TANAPA and stakeholders in conservation and tourism.
The session forms part of ongoing efforts by the government to improve governance and performance in public institutions, particularly those in the natural resource and tourism sectors.
