Zanzibar. The Zanzibar Utilities Regulatory Authority (ZURA) has announced revised fuel prices for the month of June 2025, with modest reductions recorded across all petroleum products.
Addressing a press conference at the ZURA offices in Unguja, the Authority’s Public Relations Manager, Mr Mbarak Hassan Haji, said the new prices will come into effect starting June 9, 2025.
According to the announcement, petrol will now retail at Sh2,968 per litre, down from Sh2,969, while diesel will cost Sh3,162 per litre, a drop from Sh3,191.
“The price of kerosene has been reduced to Sh3,150 per litre from Sh3,200, whereas aviation fuel will sell at Sh2,521 per litre, down from Sh2,537,” Mr Haji noted.
Mr Haji said the price adjustments were determined based on a number of factors, including average changes in global oil prices, importation costs through the Port of Tanga, fluctuations in foreign exchange rates, transport and insurance charges, various statutory fees, and profit margins for both wholesale and retail dealers.
He noted that the overall reduction in fuel prices this month was largely attributed to favourable movements in the Tanzanian shilling against major foreign currencies.
ZURA has urged members of the public to purchase fuel only from officially recognised filling stations and to demand electronic receipts for each transaction to facilitate access to redress in case of any service-related complaints.
As part of its regular procedure, ZURA reviews and announces new fuel prices on the 8th of every month.
