Rome. Tanzania’s Vice President, Dr Philip Mpango, on Sunday June 22 visited Health 3000, an international medical equipment manufacturing firm based in Rome.
Dr Mpango held high-level talks with the leadership of Health 3000, including the company’s Chairman, Mr Maurizio Flammini, and chief executive officer, Ms Eleonora Flammini.
The discussions centred on opportunities for strengthening cooperation between Tanzania and the health technologies firm, particularly in the area of telemedicine.
Health 3000 is part of the broader FG Group conglomerate, which specialises in providing modern healthcare solutions and manufacturing medical devices using cutting-edge technologies.
The Vice President welcomed the firm’s interest in contributing to Tanzania’s health sector transformation, underscoring the government’s ambition to scale up access to quality and technology-driven medical services.
The Vice President was in Italy to represent President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the Africa–Italy Development Partnership Summit under the Mattei Plan.
While in Rome, Dr Mpango also participated in a number of bilateral engagements on the sidelines of the Mattei Plan summit, which brought together leaders from Africa and Italy to explore investment partnerships in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and health.
Accompanied by his spouse, Mama Mbonimpaye Mpango, the Vice President also joined Catholic faithful on Sunday, June 22, in observing the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) at the Archbasilica of St John Lateran in Rome.
The Mass was led by Pope Leo XIV.
Dr Mpango’s official visit to Italy aims to bolster diplomatic and economic ties between Tanzania and Italy, with a strong emphasis on attracting private sector investments in strategic areas aligned with Tanzania’s development agenda.
The Vice President is expected to continue engaging in high-level meetings and follow-up sessions as the summit progresses, highlighting Tanzania’s readiness to harness international partnerships for sustainable development.
