Geita. Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa today, September 22, inaugurated the eighth annual Mining Technology Expo at the Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan grounds in Geita.
Launched in 2018, the expo aims to strengthen Tanzania’s mining sector and ensure that mineral resources deliver tangible benefits to all citizens.
It has evolved into a key platform where government officials, private sector players, large and small-scale miners, financial institutions, entrepreneurs, and other development stakeholders convene to discuss, exchange ideas, and share best practices.
This year’s expo is themed: Growth of the Mining Sector is a Result of Appropriate Technology and Good Governance / Participate in the October 2025 General Election.
The event showcases innovations and solutions designed to enhance efficiency, productivity, and sustainability in mineral exploration and extraction.
Exhibitors include technology providers, equipment suppliers, and service companies offering modern solutions to address challenges facing the mining industry.
Officials at the opening emphasised the importance of leveraging technology and sound leadership to boost sector growth while ensuring inclusivity in the distribution of mining benefits.
The expo also provides an avenue for smaller miners and entrepreneurs to access resources, knowledge, and networks that can improve their operations and competitiveness.
The Mining Technology Expo continues to play a pivotal role in promoting collaboration between the public and private sectors, strengthening investor confidence, and fostering sustainable development in Tanzania’s mining industry.
