Qatar donates two vehicles to boost Tanzania’s diplomatic transport

According to the ministry, the donation follows a request for vehicles and motorcycles to strengthen protocol and logistical services for high-level guests

Dar es Salaam. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation has received two Land Cruiser Prado vehicles from the State of Qatar to support transport arrangements for visiting dignitaries on official and working missions in Tanzania.

According to the ministry, the donation follows a request for vehicles and motorcycles to strengthen protocol and logistical services for high-level guests.

Qatar, identified as one of Tanzania’s long-standing development partners, has also initiated the process of providing an additional six motorcycles to further bolster the ministry’s fleet.

During a brief handover ceremony held at the ministry’s sub-office in Dar es Salaam, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, expressed appreciation for the support, describing it as a timely contribution that will enhance efficiency in managing official visits.

He noted that the new fleet will help address persistent transport challenges, particularly during periods of heightened diplomatic activity.

The minister received the vehicle documentation after the symbolic handover of keys by the Chief Transport Officer, Maulid Mkenda.

He urged ministry staff to ensure proper maintenance so that the vehicles remain reliable and continue to serve national interests effectively.

Qatar has in recent years expanded its cooperation with Tanzania, including offering employment opportunities for Tanzanian drivers. Additional openings, the ministry said, are expected to be announced as the partnership continues to grow.
