Tanzania, Kenya convene business forum to unlock private sector growth

This meeting aims to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two neighbouring nations

Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania-Kenya Business Forum 2026 is scheduled to take place on Monday, 4 May 2026, at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan and her Kenyan counterpart, William Ruto, will lead the high-level event.

The forum operates under the theme ‘Unlocking Private Sector Growth and Investment’.

This meeting aims to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two neighbouring nations.

Discussions will focus on key sectors including energy, infrastructure, finance, digital innovation, and manufacturing.

The forum also seeks to address the removal of non-tariff barriers that have historically hindered cross-border movement.

Recent data indicates that bilateral trade between Tanzania and Kenya has surpassed $1 billion.

Both governments have pledged swift action to facilitate smoother investment flows and regional development.

This engagement follows a period of renewed diplomatic efforts to restore trust and cooperation within the East African Community framework.

The forum precedes a historic address by President Ruto to the Tanzanian Parliament on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

Top national leaders from both countries are expected to attend the forum, which runs from 8 AM to 5 PM.

A live broadcast will be available through various media channels to provide transparency for stakeholders across the region.
