Tanzania launches national e-delivery system for development projects

The system is expected to strengthen the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development projects

Arusha. Tanzania’s National Planning Commission has officially begun using the national e-Delivery System, a digital platform designed to manage development plans and projects across the country.

The system came into effect on July 1 2026.

It is expected to strengthen the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development projects.

The announcement was made by the Commission’s Deputy Executive Secretary for Performance Management and Evaluation, Mr Sosthenes Kewe, during the fourth phase of training on the new system in Arusha.

The training brought together officials responsible for planning, policy, monitoring and evaluation from sector ministries, regional secretariats and local government authorities.

Mr Kewe said the electronic platform would become the country’s sole system for handling all stages of development projects.

These include project identification, approval, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

He said the system would be used for all development projects implemented by government institutions and local authorities.

This is intended to ensure that projects are aligned with the objectives of Tanzania’s Vision 2050 and other national development priorities.

According to Mr Kewe, the digital platform will improve coordination, enhance oversight and strengthen accountability in the management of public development programmes.

He also said the National Planning Commission had already trained more than 1,200 officials on the use of the system.

The Commission will continue providing training to other groups involved in planning and project implementation, including senior government leaders.

Mr Kewe said the continued capacity-building programme is aimed at ensuring that all stakeholders fully understand and effectively use the e-Delivery System.

The nationwide rollout is expected to support the government’s efforts to modernise public administration and improve the delivery of development projects through a unified digital platform.
