Dodoma. NMB Bank has reaffirmed its long-standing partnership with the government by presenting a sponsorship cheque to the ministry of Agriculture in support of the 2026 Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition.
The support reinforces efforts to expand access to knowledge, technology and financial services for farmers, livestock keepers and fishers across Tanzania.
The handover ceremony, held on Saturday August 1, 2026 in Dodoma, reflects the growing role of public-private partnerships in supporting agricultural transformation by creating opportunities for producers to improve productivity, strengthen value chains and access sustainable financing.
With this year’s contribution, NMB’s cumulative sponsorship of the annual exhibition has reached Sh572 million over eight consecutive years.
Speaking during the ceremony, NMB Central Zone Manager Janeth Shango said the bank views Nanenane as an important platform for connecting producers with knowledge, innovation and financial solutions that contribute to long-term agricultural growth.
“This contribution continues our eight-year commitment to supporting the exhibition as part of our efforts to enable the government to reach farmers, livestock keepers and fishers and promote productive agriculture. We believe sustainable agricultural development requires enduring partnerships between the public and private sectors,” she said.
Shango added that beyond sponsoring the exhibition, NMB continues to invest in financial literacy programmes, agricultural financing and specialised banking solutions that help producers expand production, strengthen their businesses and improve household incomes.
The bank also maintains an active presence at Nanenane to provide advisory and banking services directly to exhibition participants.
Receiving the sponsorship, minister for Agriculture Daniel Chongolo commended NMB for its continued support to Tanzania’s farming community through its various financial products and services, describing the bank as a dependable partner in agricultural development.
“We have no doubt about NMB—from your performance to the way you have remained close to our farmers. We see and appreciate your contribution in empowering farmers, and we encourage you to continue doing so while inspiring others to follow your example,” Chongolo said.
Mr Chongolo also urged the bank to increase its sponsorship in the coming years to strengthen government efforts aimed at providing farmers, livestock keepers and fishers with training, modern technologies and capital to improve agricultural productivity.
This year’s Nanenane Exhibition in Dodoma has attracted broader participation from exhibitors within and outside Tanzania, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange, technology transfer and stronger market linkages across the agricultural sector.
