Dar es Salaam. Yanga fans have been eagerly waiting for their new signing, Jonathan Ikangalombo “Ikanga Speed,” to showcase his talent after joining the team in the January transfer window from AS Vita of DR Congo.
The long-awaited moment may finally arrive Sunday, when Ikanga is expected to make his debut against Mashujaa.
Yanga will travel to Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma to face Mashujaa, and Coach Miloud Hamdi has included Ikanga in the squad for the match.
Hamdi has expressed confidence in the winger, who can also play as a center-forward, stating that the player is fully prepared to deliver.
According to Hamdi, everything is fresh for Ikanga, and he is ready to light up the pitch.
Ikanga’s journey at Yanga has been somewhat of a waiting game.
He arrived during the tenure of former coach Sead Ramovic, but despite his potential, he has yet to feature in any official matches for the club.
Ramovic previously mentioned that Ikanga struggled with weight and fitness issues, which led to his absence from matchday squads as he worked on his conditioning in training.
By the time Ramovic departed from the club, Ikanga had only been involved in training sessions, without a single appearance in either the Premier League or the FA Cup.
Even when Hamdi took over the team, Ikanga continued to be sidelined.
Despite leading Yanga through three matches, Hamdi did not feature the winger in any of those games, leaving him to watch from the stands.
Now, however, with a fresh opportunity on the horizon, Ikanga’s moment to shine could finally arrive in Kigoma.
Fans are hopeful that the player will be able to live up to the expectations and help Yanga in their quest for success in the league.
This game could be a crucial turning point in Ikanga’s Yanga career, and many are eagerly anticipating what he will bring to the team.
