Dar es Salaam. Tanzania is home to highly skilled air traffic controllers whose expertise has significantly contributed to improving the country’s aviation services and reducing incidents in air travel.
This was highlighted by Mr Daniel Malanga, the Acting Director General of the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), during the opening of the 44th Annual Conference of the Tanzania Air Traffic Controllers’ Association (TATCA) on Friday (November 22), 2024, in Dar es Salaam.
Mr. Malanga noted that the success of the air traffic controllers is attributed to a conducive working environment and the fact that they are trained locally.
He underscored that TCAA will continue to enhance their working conditions, including the installation of modern radio equipment to facilitate communication between controllers and pilots.
Mr Malanga also praised this year’s TATCA theme, “Build Health for Efficient Air Traffic Control,” urging controllers not only to excel in their work but also to prioritize their health.
In addition to opening the conference, Mr Malanga unveiled the new TATCA logo, which will be used to represent the association’s activities nationwide.
The conference, attended by members from local and regional associations, also saw participation from air traffic controller representatives from Kenya, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
For his part, the TATCA President, Mr Merkiory Ndaboya, thanked TCAA for the installation of modern equipment that enhances the controllers’ performance.
