Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has received the prestigious Power of 100 Women Award, an accolade that celebrates transformative African women leaders, in a brief ceremony held at State House in Dar es Salaam on July 8, 2025.
The award was presented by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Access Bank Tanzania, Mr Protase Ishengoma, on behalf of the Access Bank Group.
It is a continental honour granted every five years to recognise and honour African women who are driving impactful reforms in their countries and communities.
President Samia becomes one of a distinguished cadre of female leaders acknowledged for their influence in shaping inclusive governance, promoting social justice, and championing sustainable economic development across Africa.
The Power of 100 Women Award is not only a tribute to exceptional leadership but also a platform aimed at inspiring and mentoring a new generation of female leaders throughout the continent.
According to Access Bank Group, the initiative amplifies women’s voices in the continent’s development agenda, advocating for greater representation in decision-making spaces and support for women-led innovation and enterprise.
The presentation of the award to President Samia comes as her administration continues to implement sweeping reforms in governance, economic transformation, gender equality and regional diplomacy.
Her leadership has been widely praised for fostering stability, enhancing transparency, and creating new opportunities for youth and women across various sectors.
The award highlights President Samia’s growing stature on the continental stage, not only as Tanzania’s first female Head of State but also as a beacon of progressive leadership in Africa’s march toward inclusive and sustainable development.
