 Simba’s goal-scoring duos gain momentum

Simba have now registered two consecutive away wins in the league, the latest being a convincing 3–0 victory, April 19, 2026 over Namungo FC

At Simba SC, an increasingly competitive internal battle for goals is taking shape, with several attacking players forming productive combinations that are beginning to define the team’s attacking identity this season.

These partnerships are not only boosting individual confidence but also strengthening the club’s push in the ongoing title race.

Currently, the club’s leading scorer is Seleman Mwalimu, who has netted six goals so far. He is closely followed in the overall league race by Prince Dube of Young Africans SC and Fabrice Ngoy, both of whom have scored eight goals each.

Behind Mwalimu, Libase Gueye has contributed four goals, while a group of four players Jonathan Sowah, Rushine De Reuck, Anicet Oura and Elie Mpanzu—are all tied on three goals each.

What stands out most is the growing influence of Simba’s midfield and wide players in the goal-scoring department.

Rather than relying solely on strikers, the team has seen important contributions from creative and deeper-lying roles, particularly Gueye, Mpanzu and Oura.

This balance has given Simba greater unpredictability in attack and has been a key factor in maintaining pressure on league leaders in the Tanzanian Premier League.

Back-to-back away victories boost confidence

Simba have now registered two consecutive away wins in the league, the latest being a convincing 3–0 victory, on April 19, 2026 over Namungo FC.

This result followed an identical 3–0 triumph over Fountain Gate FC, underlining the team’s growing consistency on the road.

Despite this strong form, Simba remain in second place with 42 points from 19 matches, sitting five points behind Young Africans SC, who lead the table with 47 points.

The gap keeps the title race alive, especially with direct encounters still to come.

Mpanzu making decisive impact from the bench

One of the standout performers in recent matches has been Elie Mpanzu. Coming off the bench once again, he scored Simba’s third goal against Namungo, effectively sealing the result and easing pressure on the team.

This is becoming a familiar pattern, as Mpanzu has now made similar decisive contributions in back-to-back matches, including a previous game against Singida Black Stars.

His ability to change games late on is becoming an important tactical weapon for Simba.

First-half dominance sets the tone

Simba’s victory was largely built on a strong first-half performance. Libase Gueye opened the scoring in the 11th minute after finishing a well-delivered pass from defender Antony Mligo, taking his season tally to four goals.

Shortly after, Anicet Oura doubled the lead in the 25th minute with a well-struck effort from outside the penalty area, marking his third league goal of the campaign.

His growing confidence in front of goal has added another attacking dimension to the team.

Namungo responded in the 34th minute through Heritier Makambo, who converted from the penalty spot after a handball incident involving Yusuph Kagoma inside the box. Despite the setback, Simba maintained a 2–1 lead going into half-time.

Tactical changes seal the result

The second half saw strategic substitutions from Simba’s technical bench. Seleman Mwalimu was replaced by Mpanzu, while Inno Loemba made way for Neo Maema in the 63rd minute.

These changes injected fresh energy into the team and helped maintain control of the match.

Mpanzu eventually rewarded the tactical adjustments by scoring the third goal, confirming Simba’s dominance and securing all three points.

Still searching for a bigger win margin

Despite their strong attacking form, Simba are yet to record a victory by four or more goals this season.

Their largest winning margins remain three-goal victories, achieved against Fountain Gate, Namungo (home and away), TRA United and Mbeya City FC.

Makambo ends long wait for a goal

For Namungo, the match offered a rare positive moment as Heritier Makambo scored his first goal of the season.

It also marked his first-ever goal against Simba since arriving in Tanzania from DR Congo, ending a prolonged dry spell that had seen him struggle for regular playing time.

Upcoming fixtures and title implications

Following this victory, Simba will travel to Zanzibar for the Mapinduzi Cup. There is also growing anticipation that their next league fixture against Yanga, scheduled for May 3, 2026, could be staged in Zanzibar as well.

As the season approaches its decisive phase, Simba’s growing list of goal contributors and improving attacking chemistry suggest that the title race is far from over.
