Dodoma. In a bid to cope with the economic changes occurring worldwide due to rapid technological growth and shifting aid and loan policies from developed countries, Tanzania aims to equip itself with specialized expertise in key areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and green economy strategies.
In a significant meeting held in Dodoma on Friday, February 7, 2025, Dr Natu El-maamry Mwamba, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, engaged in discussions with Dr Louis Kasekende, the Director General of the Macroeconomic and Financial Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa (MEFMI).
The meeting, which also included the Governor of the Bank of Tanzania, Mr Emmanuel Tutuba, focused on how MEFMI could facilitate targeted training programs essential for developing local experts.
These experts will be vital in addressing the rapid economic changes that challenge the country.
Dr Mwamba emphasized the importance of cultivating a workforce that is well-versed in these emerging fields.
“To navigate the challenges posed by global economic trends, we must ensure that our country has specialists who can provide innovative solutions,” she stated.
MEFMI, a regional institution dedicated to enhancing the capacity of member countries, is well-positioned to support Tanzania in this endeavor. By offering specialized training, MEFMI aims to empower Tanzanian professionals to effectively manage development programs and contribute to the broader economic landscape.
