TFF sets August 16 for elections in Tanga, releases full electoral schedule

The nomination process will begin on Monday, June 16, 2025, with forms available for collection at the TFF Headquarters in Dar es Salaam and on the federation’s official website

Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has officially announced that its General Election will be held on August 16, 2025, in Tanga.

The announcement was made on Saturday, June 14 by the chairman of the TFF Electoral Committee, Advocate Kiomoni Kibamba, who also unveiled a detailed schedule to guide the electoral process.

Quoting provisions of the TFF election regulations and constitution, Adv Kibamba said: “By the powers vested in me under Rule 10(1) of the TFF Election Regulations and in accordance with Article 30(2) of the TFF Constitution, I hereby issue this official notice declaring that there shall be a General Electoral Assembly on August 16, 2025, in the city of Tanga.”

The elections will fill top leadership positions within the federation, including one position for President and six seats on the Executive Committee.

The nomination process will begin on Monday, June 16, 2025, with forms available for collection at the TFF Headquarters in Dar es Salaam and on the federation’s official website.

Adv Kibamba encouraged all eligible individuals to step forward and collect nomination forms during this period, which ends at 10:00 AM on June 20, 2025.

Aspiring presidential candidates will be required to pay Sh500,000 for nomination forms, while those seeking election to the Executive Committee will pay Sh200,000.

All payments must be made to the TFF account at NBC Bank, account number 012103025707, with a pay-in slip to be attached upon return of the completed forms.

In unveiling the roadmap, Adv Kibamba reiterated that the process has been carefully structured to uphold transparency, fairness and credibility in line with the federation’s regulations.

The electoral timetable

Between June 16 and 20, nomination forms will be collected and submitted by aspiring candidates, with the submission deadline set for 10:00 AM on June 20.

From June 21 to 23, the Electoral Committee will meet with the candidates to brief them on the early stages of the election process. A preliminary list of candidates will be published between June 24 and 25.

This will be followed by an appeals period from June 26 to 28, with all appeals required to be submitted by 10:00 AM on the final day. The committee will then conduct hearings for objections and appeals from June 28 to 30.

Candidates will undergo formal interviews between July 1 and 3. The final list of qualified candidates will be published on July 4 and 5.

From July 6 to 8, the Secretariat will submit matters to the Appeals Committee, which will sit between July 9 and 13 to hear and decide on any pending appeals.

The process will culminate in the highly anticipated Election Day in Tanga, on August 16.

This electoral season is being closely watched, as it offers an opportunity for the football community to usher in a new leadership that will be tasked with driving the continued growth and development of the sport across the country.
