Dar es Salaam. Somalia’s minister of Civil Aviation and Transport, Mr Mohamed Nuh, paid a courtesy visit to the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) on June 30, 2025, as part of efforts to explore avenues for enhanced bilateral cooperation in the aviation sector.
Accompanied by a delegation from Somalia, Minister Nuh held discussions with the TCAA Director General, Mr Salim Msangi, alongside the Managing Director of Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL), Engineer Peter Ulanga.
The talks focused on expanding collaboration in civil aviation, particularly in training and capacity building.
Mr Msangi highlighted Tanzania’s ongoing investment in aviation education through the expansion of the Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC).
He welcomed Somalia’s interest in strengthening ties in aviation studies and expressed appreciation for the growing number of Somali students currently enrolled at the institution.
“The presence of Somali students at CATC demonstrates the trust and commitment between our two nations. We look forward to deepening this cooperation through knowledge sharing and skills development,” said Mr Msangi.
Minister Nuh affirmed Somalia’s readiness to enhance bilateral cooperation in the air transport sector, noting that increased engagement with Tanzania would be instrumental in supporting Somalia’s aviation reform and development agenda.
Also present at the meeting was Ms Ellen Maduhu, Assistant Director in the Africa Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, along with officials from the Ministry and TCAA.
The visit marks another step in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Tanzania and Somalia, particularly through institutional partnerships that support regional integration and capacity development in aviation.
