Dar es Salaam. Simba SC supporters are still reeling in shock following the club’s recent decision to part ways with several high-profile players some of whom were instrumental in the club’s historic run to the CAF Confederation Cup final last season.
But amidst the growing uncertainty, head coach Fadlu Davids has delivered a powerful message: “Stay calm—bigger and better stars are on the way.”
Last season, Simba proudly proclaimed it was “building a new team,” and the results backed that up the club finished second in the Tanzanian Premier League and reached the CAF final.
However, as the new season approaches, the club has released multiple key players, sparking heated debate among the fanbase.
Foreign stars Augustine Okejepha, Valentin Nouma, and Fabrice Ngoma are among those shown the door, alongside local players such as veteran goalkeeper Aishi Manula, Hussein Kazi, Kelvin Kijili, and Omari Omari (sent out on loan).
But Fadlu, just hours after holding a high-level meeting in Dubai with Mohammed ‘Mo’ Dewji, the club’s Honorary President and Chairman of the Board, offered reassurance.
“We’ve parted ways with some important players, yes, but the replacements we are lining up are more explosive, more dynamic, and better suited for where we want to go,” said Fadlu.
Fadlu Given Full Control of Foreign Signings
The Dubai meeting marked a significant shift in Simba’s transfer strategy. Mo Dewji granted Fadlu full authority to identify, recommend, and sign all foreign players for the 2025/26 season.
This change gives the South African tactician a much larger say in shaping his squad, and sources tell The Bizlens that five new foreign signings are already in the pipeline. Dewji reportedly committed to spending up to€200,000 (TSh 560 million) per player, reflecting a serious investment in quality talent.
“Mo has shown immense faith in Fadlu,” one club insider shared. “This is not just about spending money—it’s about strategic rebuilding with full accountability.”
Targeting Six Key Positions
In the same meeting, Coach Fadlu submitted a detailed report outlining six crucial positions he intends to strengthen. These include: A dominant central midfielder to complement Charles Jean Ahoua; a creative playmaker to orchestrate attacks and a versatile center-back capable of covering wide areas.
Other positions include a pacy winger who can break defences, a clinical centre forward and an experienced, reliable goalkeeper.
These new signings are expected to blend with existing talents like Ellie Mpanzu and Ahoua, creating a side with more depth, tactical flexibility, and attacking threat than last season.
A Real Test for Fadlu’s Vision
For Fadlu, the next few weeks are not just about recruitment they are a litmus test of his understanding of the African transfer market and his ability to construct a truly competitive squad.
Scouting is already underway, with the coach and his team closely evaluating player profiles from across the continent. Agents representing players from top African leagues have begun engaging with Simba, while Fadlu is also personally overseeing every proposed name.
“His system demands fast, intelligent, and physically strong players. He knows exactly what he wants, and he’s moving with urgency,” another club source revealed.
