The improvement, officials said, reflects enhanced efficiency in project implementation and service delivery across the energy sector

Dodoma. The performance of the Ministry of Energy and its affiliated institutions has continued to improve, reaching 96.16 per cent in the fourth quarter of the 2024/2025 financial year, according to an internal evaluation.

The findings were revealed during the Fifth Performance Review Meeting of the Ministry and its institutions, held here over the weekend and chaired by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba.

The assessment, conducted by the Ministry’s Monitoring and Evaluation Unit, showed that institutional performance rose to 96.16 per cent from 95 per cent recorded in the third quarter of the same financial year.

The improvement, officials said, reflects enhanced efficiency in project implementation and service delivery across the energy sector.

Engineer Mramba commended the Ministry’s staff and executives of its agencies for their continued efforts to strengthen performance, noting that the positive results were a testament to their dedication and professionalism.

“These evaluations reflect what we have achieved on the ground. Services have continued to improve, and as a Ministry, we remain committed to ensuring that citizens receive quality energy services,” he said.

During the session, Engineer Mramba praised the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco) for its efforts to provide timely information to the public, which has contributed to more effective service delivery and enhanced public trust.

On the promotion of clean cooking energy, he urged wider use of social media platforms to raise awareness of energy-efficient electric stoves and other clean energy technologies.

He noted that digital platforms offer a powerful tool for spreading information quickly and effectively, in line with President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s directive to accelerate the transition from traditional to clean cooking energy.

Engineer Mramba also commended the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit for diligently executing its mandate, calling on all departments and institutions under the Ministry to strengthen collaboration with the unit to ensure continuous improvement in performance monitoring and accountability.

The Ministry of Energy oversees key agencies including Tanesco, the Rural Energy Agency (REA), and the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), among others, which collectively drive the government’s agenda for reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy for all.
