Dodoma. The new Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Ambassador Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, has paid tribute to his predecessor, Dr Philip Mpango, for his remarkable service and contributions during the first phase of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s administration.
Speaking during the official handover ceremony of the Vice President’s Office held at Chamwino State House in Dodoma on November 4, Dr Nchimbi said Dr Mpango’s efforts had laid a strong foundation for the Sixth Phase Government’s achievements and eased preparations for the 2025 General Election.
He noted that the initial period of President Samia’s leadership had been marked by solid progress in implementing government programmes and strengthening the country’s political and economic stability.
Dr Nchimbi pledged to continue offering unwavering support to the Head of State in implementing the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) election manifesto and advancing development for the benefit of all Tanzanians.
“I am fully committed to assisting Her Excellency the President in executing the national agenda with diligence and devotion,” said Dr Nchimbi, adding that his focus would be on ensuring that the government’s priorities translate into tangible results for citizens.
The Vice President also appealed to Dr Mpango to continue providing guidance and expertise whenever called upon, particularly in the implementation of policies under the Vice President’s Office, including initiatives related to the blue economy.
In response, Dr Mpango congratulated Dr Nchimbi on assuming the high office and urged him to approach the role with humility, wisdom and dedication.
He reminded his successor of the weight of the responsibility that comes with serving as the President’s principal advisor.
“I encourage you to serve with patience, wisdom and respect for all, for leadership is a sacred trust given by the people,” Dr Mpango said.
Dr Nchimbi’s appointment followed the announcement by President Samia Suluhu Hassan last week, marking a new chapter in the Sixth Phase Government’s leadership as the country gears up for the next general election.
