Dar es Salaam. The Tanzanian government continues to expand international labour opportunities for its citizens.
Hundreds of young people gathered at the National Institute of Transport (NIT) to register for upcoming positions in the United Arab Emirates.
This initiative aims to deploy 500 motorcycle couriers, commonly known as bodaboda, to the Gulf nation.
This recruitment drive is part of a broader government programme to connect Tanzanians with formal employment abroad.
By using official channels, the state ensures the protection of workers’ rights and personal safety.
The process reflects a strategic effort to address domestic unemployment through structured migration.
Jane Sorogo, the Acting Director of Employment Services in the Prime Minister’s Office, addressed the media in Dar es Salaam on 10 February 2026.
She noted the high turnout of applicants for the initial interviews. Following the exercise in Dar es Salaam, recruitment will extend to the Tanga and Mwanza regions.
Successful candidates will travel to the United Arab Emirates to begin their contracts. Ms Sorogo urged young people to seize these international opportunities.
She emphasised that these roles are secured through government-backed agreements, providing a layer of security for the recruits.
Applicants expressed their gratitude to the government for facilitating these foreign job prospects. Many participants viewed the move as a significant step toward financial independence.
They also requested that the government maintain close supervision of their welfare once they arrive in the UAE.
