Dodoma. The ministry of Energy has received Sh1.15 trillion for the implementation of development projects between July 2025 and February 2026, representing 61 percent of the approved development budget for the 2025/26 financial year.
The announcement was made on March 10, 2026 by the Minister of Energy, Mr Deogratius Ndejembi, while presenting the sector’s project implementation report to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy and Minerals, chaired by Ms Subira Mgalu, at the Parliament Hall in Dodoma.
Mr Ndejembi said that during the 2025/26 financial year, the ministry has continued to implement various development projects aimed at enhancing electricity generation, transmission, and distribution across the country.
He stated that of the funds received so far, Sh410.04 billion are domestic funds, while Sh740.30 billion are external funds, which have supported the implementation of numerous energy sector projects.
“The projects include rural and peri-urban electrification, exploration and development of oil and natural gas, construction of petroleum transport and storage infrastructure, and promotion of clean cooking energy,” he added.
According to the Minister, the Ministry of Energy was authorised to utilise a total of Sh1.965 trillion for the 2025/26 financial year, of which Sh1.886 trillion, or 95.97 percent, was allocated for development projects, while Sh79.23 billion, or 4.03 percent, was designated for recurrent expenditure.
He further clarified that of the approved development funds, Sh1.466 trillion are domestic and Sh420.49 billion are external.
Mr Ndejembi expressed gratitude to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy and Minerals for its guidance and recommendations, which have contributed to the successful implementation of the projects.
He emphasised that the ministry will continue to seek advice and feedback from the committee and maintain full cooperation to strengthen the development of the country’s energy sector.
