Simba roar back with 3–0 win over Fountain Gate

The 3–0 win extends Simba’s strong record of big-margin victories this season, marking their fifth league win by the same scoreline

Simba returned to winning form in style on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, after a commanding 3–0 victory over Fountain Gate FC at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Memorial Stadium in Arusha, putting an end to a brief goal drought and reigniting their push in the league title race.

Simba had been under pressure after back-to-back league matches without scoring, first in a goalless draw against Azam FC on April 5 in Chamazi, and then again against TRA United FC four days later.

The two results saw them drop valuable points in the title race and raised concerns about their attacking sharpness.

This difficult spell marked the second time this season that Simba have gone 180 minutes without scoring.

The first came in February 2026 when they were held by Dodoma Jiji and then failed to score again in the highly anticipated Kariakoo derby against Yanga, played in Zanzibar.

Against Fountain Gate, Simba started the match with high intensity and aggressive attacking intent, but they were repeatedly frustrated by a well-organised defensive setup.

Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, they could not break the deadlock in the opening stages, as Fountain Gate remained disciplined and compact at the back.

However, just when it looked like the first half would end goalless, Clatous Chama produced a moment of brilliance in stoppage time (45+6), unleashing a powerful strike that finally broke Fountain Gate’s resistance and gave Simba a crucial 1–0 lead going into the break.

In the second half, Simba returned with more composure and control, moving the ball quicker and stretching Fountain Gate’s defensive lines.

Their pressure paid off in the 53rd minute when Libasse Gueye calmly converted from close range after a well-delivered assist by Seleman Mwalimu, doubling Simba’s advantage.

The game continued to tilt heavily in Simba’s favour, and in the 65th minute the coach made several substitutions to maintain energy and control in midfield and attack.

The changes ensured Simba kept pushing forward while managing the tempo of the game effectively.

Fountain Gate struggled to respond and rarely threatened Simba’s defence, as the visitors continued to dictate play and create further chances.

Their dominance was eventually rewarded with a third goal, as Shabani Mgunda turned the ball into his own net under pressure, sealing a comfortable 3–0 victory for Simba.

The result sees Simba SC remain second in the league standings with 39 points, narrowing the gap to leaders Yanga from eight points to five, keeping their title ambitions firmly alive as the season progresses.

The 3–0 win also extends Simba’s strong record of big-margin victories this season, marking their fifth league win by the same scoreline.

It is also the second time they have beaten Fountain Gate 3–0 this campaign, having achieved the same result in the first round.

Other identical victories have come against TRA United, Mbeya City and Namungo, underlining their consistency when in full attacking rhythm.
