Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) has held talks with representatives of Indian airline IndiGo as preparations gather pace for the launch of direct flights between Tanzania and India in October 2026.
The meeting took place at TCAA headquarters in Ukonga Banana, Dar es Salaam.
It brought together TCAA Director General Dr Jabiri K. Bakari and IndiGo’s East Africa Regional Representative, Mr Adil Eltaff.
The discussions formed part of the formal engagement process ahead of the introduction of the new air service, which is expected to strengthen air connectivity between the two countries.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr Bakari said TCAA would continue to provide a supportive environment for airlines seeking to operate in Tanzania.
He noted that improved air links play an important role in enhancing connectivity, promoting tourism and supporting economic growth.
Mr Eltaff said IndiGo had identified significant opportunities in the air transport market between Tanzania and India.
He highlighted tourism and trade as key sectors expected to benefit from the new route.
According to Mr Eltaff, the direct flights will help stimulate economic activities and strengthen commercial relations between the two nations.
The planned service is also expected to provide travellers with more convenient connections while supporting efforts to expand Tanzania’s international aviation network.
The launch of the route will mark a significant step in enhancing transport links between East Africa and South Asia, opening new opportunities for business, investment and tourism.
