Dar es Salaam. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi arrived in Tanzania on Saturday July 18, 2026 for a State Visit expected to strengthen bilateral relations and deepen economic cooperation between the two countries.

President El-Sisi’s visit comes as Tanzania and Egypt seek to expand trade, investment and private sector partnerships through the Tanzania-Egypt Business Forum scheduled to take place in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.

The Egyptian leader was received at Julius Nyerere International Airport by senior government officials led by the minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb Mahammoud Thabit Kombo, as he began his official engagements in Tanzania.

During the visit, President El-Sisi held talks with her host President Samia Suluhu Hassan on areas of mutual interest, including investment, infrastructure development, energy, agriculture, water resources, trade and regional cooperation.

The two leaders also witnessed discussions between business communities from both countries as they explore opportunities for increased commercial cooperation.

The Tanzania-Egypt Business Forum brought together government officials, business leaders, investors and private sector representatives from the two countries.

The forum provides a platform for identifying investment opportunities, strengthening business partnerships and promoting trade between Tanzania and Egypt.

The visit comes amid efforts by Tanzania to use economic diplomacy to attract foreign investment and expand cooperation with strategic partners.

Recent business forums hosted by Tanzania have focused on attracting investment in key sectors such as infrastructure, logistics, agriculture, tourism, energy and financial services as the country seeks to accelerate economic growth.

Egypt remains one of Tanzania’s important partners in infrastructure development and economic cooperation.

Egyptian companies have participated in major projects in Tanzania, including the Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Power Project.

The two countries have also maintained cooperation in areas such as education, health, agriculture, construction and capacity building.

Analysts say the visit provides an opportunity for both countries to review existing cooperation and identify new areas that can increase trade and investment flows.

For Tanzania, the engagement aligns with efforts to attract more private sector investment and strengthen international partnerships to support industrialisation and economic transformation.

For Egypt, Tanzania remains an important partner in East Africa, offering opportunities in trade, investment and regional economic integration.

The State Visit is expected to reinforce the longstanding friendship between the two nations while opening new avenues for cooperation between their business communities.
