Yanga SC crush Mashujaa 5-0 set new record

Dar es Salaam.  Reigning champions of the Tanzanian Premier League, Yanga SC, once again asserted their dominance with a commanding 5-0 victory over Mashujaa FC at Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma on Sunday, February 23, 2025.

This emphatic win not only strengthened their grip at the top of the league table, taking them to 55 points, but also set a new record as the biggest away victory at the stadium.

Previously, the record was held by Azam FC, who had defeated Mashujaa 3-0 on November 1, 2023.

From the very first whistle, Yanga dictated the tempo of the game, launching wave after wave of attacks.

Their ball movement, tactical discipline, and ability to control possession kept Mashujaa pinned back in their own half.

Despite their dominance, they only managed to find the back of the net once in the first half, with Duke Abuya scoring the opener in the 38th minute after a well-worked team move.

The second half saw a completely different Yanga, even more ruthless in front of goal.

Prince Dube doubled the lead early in the half, scoring his 10th goal of the season, which brought him level with his teammate Clement Mzize and Simba’s Charles Jean Ahoua.

Khalid Aucho then added a third, capitalizing on defensive errors from Mashujaa.

However, the best was yet to come, as Clatous Chama, who came on as a substitute for Aziz Ki, made an instant impact, scoring twice within 10 minutes to complete the 5-0 rout.

One of the standout performers of the match was Pacôme Zouzoua, who orchestrated Yanga’s attacks with precision and flair.

Not only did he provide two assists, but he also controlled the midfield with his vision and technical ability.

His overall contribution this season has been immense, with seven goals and six assists, making him one of Yanga’s most influential players.

The tactical brilliance of coach Miloud Hamdi was on full display as his team executed their game plan to perfection.

Yanga’s ability to switch between high pressing and controlled build-up play left Mashujaa FC with no answers.

Their intelligent use of space, quick passing, and clinical finishing showcased why they remain the team to beat in the Tanzanian Premier League.

With this dominant performance, Yanga SC has sent a strong message to their title rivals.

They are not only winning matches but also breaking records along the way.

As the season progresses, one question remains: How many more records will they shatter before the campaign comes to an end?
