Dar es Salaam. Young Africans strengthened their campaign with a confident 2–0 victory over Fountain Gate in Tanzania Premier League on Thursday, December 4, 2025, marking their fifth league match of the season.
The match opened with sharp tempo and early signs of intensity from both sides. Fountain Gate began with ambition but struggled to break beyond Yanga’s structured defensive block.
The hosts dictated rhythm, pushing the ball forward with patience and tactical maturity.
Tension surfaced in the seventh minute when Hassan of Fountain Gate picked up a yellow card, signalling the physical nature of the encounter.
At the 25-minute mark, Dickson Job followed into the book for Yanga after a mistimed challenge, marking the first disciplinary caution for the home side.
The breakthrough arrived just four minutes later. Prince Dube stepped up for a penalty and dispatched it cleanly to hand Yanga a 1–0 lead. His calm conversion lifted the atmosphere at the stadium and tilted control firmly in Yanga’s favour.
Fountain Gate attempted to regroup through wide play and quick diagonal balls, yet every surge met resistance. Yanga’s defensive line stayed disciplined, while their midfield link-up offered fluid transitions from defensive shape to attacking progression.
The second half saw a more determined Fountain Gate, but their urgency came against a well-balanced Yanga side. Possession was managed with clarity, and transitions were executed with fewer risks, ensuring control remained in Jangwani hands.
The tactical complexion changed in the 64th minute when Kouma replaced Chikola, while Pacome Zouzoua came on for Nzengeli.
The double substitution introduced fresh mobility and technical sharpness in the final third.
Fountain Gate responded instantly with triple changes Obasi, Shiga, and Joram all introduced in the 65th minute. The switch aimed to counter Yanga’s growing influence but struggled for end product inside the box.
Later, Hossein and Conte entered in the 76th minute, maintaining Yanga’s energy as legs tired on both ends. The home side’s structure remained unbroken and continued pressing for a decisive second goal.
That confirmation arrived in the 81st minute. Zouzoua finished with authority after a well-slipped assist from Abuya, sealing the score at 2–0.
The win pushes Yanga to 13 points from their five league matches, a positive return that now fuels early-season optimism. Although not top of the table, the result keeps them within competitive range.
The standings show a tight contest at the summit JKT lead with 17 points from 10 games, followed by Pamba on 15 points from eight matches.
Yanga trail slightly, but their momentum and growing chemistry suggest potential for a strong climb.
A polished performance, a clean sheet, and precise execution this was the kind of display Yanga needed to signal intent as they push to rejoin the title conversation in the weeks ahead.
