Arusha. Prime Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba on Friday, January 31, visited Arusha National Park, where he undertook the Amazing Tanzania Tour to promote Tanzania’s tourism attractions as part of ongoing government efforts to boost the sector.

The visit is part of a wider government strategy to market Tanzania’s tourism potential under the Amazing Tanzania brand.

The initiative, spearheaded by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, seeks to raise the country’s visibility in regional and international tourism markets while strengthening domestic tourism.

During the tour, the Prime Minister was received by the management of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, led by minister Dr Ashatu Kijaji, alongside senior officials from Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA).

He toured several key areas within the park, including wildlife zones, the Tululusia waterfalls and scenic viewpoints offering expansive views of Mount Meru and its natural forest cover.

Speaking during the visit, Dr Nchemba commended TANAPA for its conservation efforts and for developing innovative tourism products.

He said these initiatives had enhanced the value of national parks and increased their appeal to both local and foreign tourists.

“I have witnessed commendable work by TANAPA in protecting our natural resources while developing new tourism products. These efforts add value to our national parks and make a significant contribution to the national economy,” he said.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for the growth of the tourism sector.

He noted that tourism remains a key driver of revenue generation and employment creation.

He also encouraged Tanzanians to visit national parks and actively participate in protecting natural heritage for present and future generations.

For her part, Ms Kijaji said the Prime Minister’s visit demonstrated the government’s strong commitment to promoting Tanzania as a leading tourism destination.

She described the tour as a boost to ongoing efforts to strengthen conservation and tourism development.

“We are grateful to the Prime Minister for taking the time to visit Arusha National Park. His visit adds momentum to our work of improving tourism products and attracting more visitors and investors,” she said.

Dr Kijaji added that the ministry, working closely with TANAPA, would continue to improve tourism infrastructure, visitor services and marketing strategies.

She said Arusha National Park remains a strategic asset within the northern tourism circuit due to its rich biodiversity and proximity to major tourism hubs.

Tourism continues to play a vital role in Tanzania’s economy.

The sector contributes significantly to foreign exchange earnings and employment, reinforcing its position as one of the country’s key pillars of economic growth.
