Dar es Salaam. Simba SC are in strong form, having gone unbeaten in their last eight Premier League matches since their 1-0 loss to Yanga in the Kariakoo Derby on October 19.
In these eight games, Simba have scored 17 goals and conceded just two, both of which came in a 5-2 victory.
Simba will face Singida Black Stars today, a team that has shown strong form this season, in a match that could determine the top spot at the end of the first half of the league season.
Simba currently sit at the top of the table with 37 points, just one ahead of second-placed Yanga.
If Simba slip today, and Yanga win tomorrow, Simba could lose the top position by the end of the weekend.
Coach Fadlu David will be hoping his team secures all three points to remain on track for title challenge.
Singida, currently fourth with 33 points, will be a tough opponent.
They come into this match on the back of a 2-1 victory over KenGold.
Despite their strong campaign, Singida have struggled against Simba in the past, with the Mnyama (Simba) winning six of the last seven encounters between the two teams, and Singida only managing a draw in their most recent match.
Singida’s Elvis Rupia, who is currently the league’s top scorer with eight goals, will be key for the hosts.
Simba, however, boasts a strong attack led by Jean Charles Ahoua and Leonel Ateba, and they will be looking to maintain their dominant record over Singida.
Yanga Vs Fountain Gate
Yanga will face Fountain Gate in a crucial match on Sunday.
The defending champions are in excellent form, having won their last four league games, including impressive victories over Tanzania Prisons, Dodoma Jiji, and Mashujaa.
Coach Sead Ramovic has overseen a solid run, and he will be hoping his team continues to press for the top spot in the league.
Yanga’s attacking duo of Clement Mzize and Prince Dube, both with five goals each this season, will be a major threat to Fountain Gate’s defense.
Fountain Gate have been struggling defensively this season, having conceded 27 goals, the second most in the league and they will need to improve significantly to contain Yanga’s potent attacking force.
Fountain Gate’s own attacking line, which has netted 24 goals, will rely on Edgar William, who has five goals to his name, and the creative Salum Kihimbwa.
However, with Yanga’s defense led by Dickson Job and Ibrahim Bacca looking solid, Fountain Gate faces a difficult task in securing a positive result.
