Simba SC Honorary President and principal investor, Mohamed Dewji, has challenged the club to build on its recent domestic success by setting its sights on conquering African football.
Speaking via telephone during the climax of Simba’s CRDB Federation Cup victory parade at Coco Beach in Dar es Salaam, Dewji said lifting the domestic cup should serve as a stepping stone towards achieving even greater success on the continent.
Thousands of Simba supporters gathered at the beach to celebrate the club’s latest trophy after the Reds defeated Azam FC 1-0 in the final, bringing the curtain down on their season with silverware.
Addressing the jubilant crowd, Dewji began by congratulating everyone associated with the club, including the players, coaching staff, club officials, members and supporters, for their contribution to the team’s success.
“I would like to sincerely congratulate all Simba supporters, our leaders, players and every member of the Simba family for this achievement. Thank you for standing behind the club throughout the season and for the incredible support you have shown,” Dewji said.
The businessman reaffirmed his long-term commitment to Simba, insisting that he will continue investing in the club to ensure it remains among Africa’s elite football institutions.
He noted that while winning the CRDB Federation Cup was an important achievement, Simba’s ambitions should not end there.
“Our success in Tanzania should inspire us to aim even higher. We must continue working hard because our ultimate objective is to see Simba become champions of Africa,” he added.
Dewji emphasised that his greatest dream is to witness the Msimbazi giants lifting either the CAF Champions League or the CAF Confederation Cup, saying the club possesses the potential to compete with the continent’s best if everyone remains united.
He urged players, supporters and club leaders to maintain the same spirit and togetherness that has characterised the club throughout the season, arguing that unity will be the key to achieving continental glory.
His remarks were met with loud cheers from the thousands of fans packed at Coco Beach, many of whom responded by chanting Simba songs and applauding his vision for the club’s future.
The colourful parade, which travelled through several parts of Dar es Salaam before culminating at Coco Beach, marked Simba’s celebration of their CRDB Federation Cup triumph and attracted huge crowds of supporters throughout the day.
Dewji concluded his message by wishing the club continued success and expressing confidence that, with sustained investment, hard work and unwavering support from the fans, Simba can establish itself as one of Africa’s leading football clubs in the coming seasons.
