Tanzania and Japan to cement bilateral ties

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania and Japan on Friday reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their bilateral ties.

The reaffirmation was made during a farewell visit by Japan’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Yasushi Misawa, to the office of Yusuph Mwenda, the Commissioner General of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA).

Mr Misawa emphasized the importance of continued collaboration in business and investment, stating, “We will maintain and enhance our partnership, working closely with TRA to boost economic ties.”

The conversation quickly turned to TRA’s successful tax collection strategies, which Mr Misawa praised for creating a favorable environment for foreign investors.

“Your achievements are vital for attracting investment to Tanzania,” he noted, highlighting the role of effective tax administration.

Mr Mwenda expressed gratitude for Japan’s support and shared his vision for further cooperation.

“We look forward to exchanging best practices, especially in tax administration, to enhance our efficiency,” he stated.

Mr Misawa proposed a formal exchange program where TRA officials could visit Japan to learn firsthand about its tax systems.

“This collaboration will strengthen our ties and promote mutual growth,” he added.

As the meeting wrapped up, both leaders felt a renewed sense of optimism for the future.

They agreed to prioritize ongoing collaboration, laying the groundwork for a strong partnership between Tanzania and Japan that promises prosperity for both nations.
