Dar es Salaam. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Dr Doto Biteko, has commended Super Star Forwarders (SSF) and Total Energies for achieving high standards in transport safety, urging other players in the sector to emulate their example.

Dr Biteko issued the remarks on June 25, 2025, during celebrations to mark 30 years of partnership between SSF and Total Energies, held in Dar es Salaam.

“We are gathered here to commemorate three decades of fruitful collaboration between Total Energies and Super Star Forwarders. Over the years, you have grown to become reliable international partners in the transportation of various products, particularly through the use of specialised tankers. Personally, I am deeply impressed and extend my heartfelt congratulations,” said Dr Biteko.

He noted that the partnership had contributed to a reliable fuel supply in the country, generated employment for hundreds of young people, and boosted regional trade by attracting neighbouring countries to use the Port of Dar es Salaam to transit their cargo—ultimately benefiting the local economy.

Dr Biteko called on all transporters to strictly adhere to road safety standards by equipping their lorries with essential safety devices, such as GPS, in accordance with established guidelines.

He assured transporters and investors that the government remained committed to fostering a conducive business environment through predictable policy frameworks that safeguard and attract investments.

For his part, the Minister for Transport, Prof Makame Mbarawa, emphasised that road safety was not merely a policy matter, but a national imperative. He said road accidents cause significant economic and human losses, and urged transporters to observe required standards and make optimal use of existing road infrastructure.

The French Ambassador to Tanzania, Anne Sophie, highlighted the significance of the day to both Tanzania and France, describing the three-decade-long partnership as mutually beneficial.

She cited, among others, the training provided to drivers and the adoption of road safety systems and technologies as tangible outcomes of the collaboration.

SSF Managing Director, Mr Seif A. Seif, paid tribute to President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan for her leadership and efforts that have helped strengthen and grow Tanzania’s transport sector.

Meanwhile, Senior Vice President for Marketing Services, Total Energies Africa, Mr Jean Philippe Torres, commended the Tanzanian Government for its unwavering commitment to improving the investment climate and its dedication to advancing the energy sector.

The event was marked by reflections on the progress made over the past 30 years and reiterated calls for enhanced cooperation between the private sector and the government in promoting safety, efficiency, and sustainability in the transport industry.
