Fadlu Davids leaves Simba to take over as Raja Casablanca head coach

An official poster released by the Moroccan club introduced him with the words: “New Head Coach – Fadlu Davids.”

Dar es Salaam. Simba SC’s head coach Fadlu Davids has officially left the Tanzanian giants to join Moroccan powerhouse Raja Casablanca as their new manager, bringing to an end weeks of speculation over his future.

The South African tactician, who guided Simba through a period of strong performances in the domestic league and on the continental stage, was unveiled yesterday in Casablanca as Raja’s new head coach.

An official poster released by the Moroccan club introduced him with the words: “New Head Coach – Fadlu Davids” written in Arabic.

Davids’ exit marks a significant shift for Simba, who had hoped to retain him after what insiders described as a “positive season impact.”

His disciplined approach, tactical flexibility and man-management skills were widely credited with improving Simba’s competitiveness in the CAF Champions League while maintaining domestic dominance.

For Raja Casablanca, his appointment is seen as both a reunion and a new chapter.

Davids previously served the club as an assistant coach during the 2023/24 season, gaining familiarity with its operations and culture.

That experience, analysts say, gives him an edge as he takes over the top job at a time when the Moroccan side is keen to revive its continental credentials following a period of mixed results.

The vacancy arose after the departure of Lassaad Chabbi, and Raja moved quickly to secure Davids’ services, positioning him as their top target.

His unveiling has been met with optimism among Raja supporters, many of whom believe his return could restore stability and reignite their push for domestic and continental success.

Simba SC now face the challenge of finding a replacement capable of sustaining the momentum Davids established.

With the Tanzanian league becoming increasingly competitive and continental ambitions high, the search for his successor is expected to shape the club’s immediate future.

Davids’ move highlights the growing demand for African coaches across the continent’s leading clubs.

His trajectory, from South Africa to Tanzania and now to Morocco, underscores both the mobility and recognition of homegrown managerial talent in modern African football.

As Raja Casablanca prepare for the season ahead under new leadership, Simba are left to regroup, with fans awaiting the club’s next move to ensure continuity in their pursuit of success at home and abroad.
