Dodoma to host youth debate on clean cooking solutions

The debate will involve schools within the Dodoma region and is aimed to promote sustainable energy practices from a young age

Dodoma. The Deputy Minister for Energy, Salome Makamba, met with the Director of Go Plant Tanzania, Emmanuel Likida, on March 3 to discuss a strategic partnership to organise a debate competition for secondary school students.

This initiative targets schools within the Dodoma region to promote sustainable energy practices from a young age.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Energy offices in Mtumba, Dodoma both parties emphasised the necessity of early education regarding clean cooking technologies.

They addressed the severe health and environmental risks associated with traditional, polluting fuels.

The dialogue also highlighted emerging opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship within the clean energy sector.

The upcoming debate aims to serve as an educational platform to foster critical thinking among the youth.

Organisers intend for the event to produce young ambassadors who will advocate for clean cooking within their local communities.

This strategic engagement reflects a broader national commitment to transitioning towards environmentally friendly energy solutions.

The session concluded with a shared vision for empowering the next generation to lead Tanzania’s energy transformation.

By involving students, the Ministry seeks to inspire long-term behavioural changes across the country. Further details regarding the competition schedule and participating schools are expected to follow.
