Tanzanian President appoints new TCRA director general in key reshuffle

According to a presidential communication issued on April 24, 2026, Mr Mwasalyanda moves from his role as chief executive of the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF)

Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan, has appointed Peter Phillip Mwasalyanda as the new director general of the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA).

According to a presidential communication issued on April 24, 2026, Mr Mwasalyanda moves from his role as chief executive of the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF).

He succeeds Dr Jabiri Kuwe Bakari, whose tenure has concluded.

In a corresponding move, Dr Jabiri Kuwe Bakari has been appointed director general of the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA), replacing Mr Salim Ramadhani Msangi, who is set for reassignment.

The appointments are part of a series of official changes, including a new role for Angela Charles Kizigha as Presidential Advisor on Community Matters.

Amb Mobhare Holmes Matinyi has been assigned as Ambassador to Algeria.
