Dar es Salaam. President Paul Kagame has arrived in Dar es Salaam for a one-day working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Rwanda and Tanzania.

During the visit, President Kagame is expected to hold talks with his host, President Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the State House.

The discussions are set to focus on deepening cooperation across key sectors and reinforcing longstanding diplomatic ties between the two neighbouring countries.

Officials indicated that the visit underscores the enduring and cordial relationship shared by Tanzania and Rwanda.

This partnership has continued to grow in recent years, particularly through the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC), which serves as a framework for advancing cooperation in trade, investment and other strategic areas.

Tanzania remains among Rwanda’s top three global trading partners, with bilateral trade volumes recording consistent annual growth.

The strengthening of economic ties reflects a shared commitment to regional integration and mutual development within the East African Community framework.

In investment, Tanzania has registered 42 projects from Rwanda between 1990 and March 2026, valued at approximately $325.53 million.

These ventures have generated more than 2,200 jobs across sectors such as manufacturing, transport, financial services, natural resources and tourism.

Tanzanian firms have also expanded their footprint in Rwanda through various investments, further cementing economic cooperation between the two countries.
