Arusha. Major infrastructure upgrades are currently underway inside the Serengeti National Park, focusing on the rehabilitation of the Naabi-Golini-Seronera and Ndabaka-Seronera roads.
The ongoing projects aim to significantly improve transport networks, elevate the quality of tourism services, and enhance smooth transit for all road users.
This progress was highlighted yesterday during an inspection tour by the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Ashatu Kijaji, who visited the sites to assess construction developments.
Speaking immediately after the inspection, Dr Kijaji praised the management of the Serengeti National Park for their dedicated efforts whilst emphasizing the critical importance of meeting project deadlines.
She instructed the management team to ensure that the infrastructure works are completed swiftly to facilitate seamless tourism operations during the current peak season.
Dr Kijaji noted that these improvements are essential for maintaining the Serengeti’s status as a premier global destination, directly supporting the government’s ambitious target to welcome eight million tourists annually by 2030.
During the tour, the Minister interacted with international visitors who shared overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding their safari experiences.
The tourists expressed immense delight at the abundance of wildlife and the spectacular Great Migration, an annual event that continues to draw thousands of global travelers to the park.
Reinforcing the government’s vision, the Conservation Commissioner of the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), Massana Mwishawa, outlined the strategic measures being deployed to strengthen conservation efforts alongside infrastructure development.
These initiatives are designed to guarantee that the Serengeti maintains its leading position as a top tourism hub both in Africa and worldwide.
The Head of the Serengeti National Park, Assistant Conservation Commissioner Ismail Ismail, further observed that the current season has experienced a remarkable influx of visitors.
He confirmed that service enhancements and road upgrades are being aggressively pursued to ensure all guests enjoy a safe, comfortable, and memorable experience.
Once fully completed, the road rehabilitation project is expected to transform travel within the Serengeti National Park, easing logistics for tour operators and ensuring the iconic reserve remains an unparalleled destination on the global stage.
