The Fifth Local Content Forum for the Mining Sector (LCCF 2026) serves as a vital platform for empowering Tanzanians to enhance their involvement in the nation’s mineral economy, according to Dr Theresia Numbi, Chairperson of the Tanzanian Local Content Committee within the Mining Commission.
Speaking during a live broadcast on a local TV’s alongside CPA Venance Kasiki, the Director of Mines Inspection and Environment, Dr Numbi highlighted the forum’s crucial role in fostering awareness regarding commercial opportunities, legal requirements, and regulatory procedures for supplying goods and services to mining operations.
Dr Numbi emphasised that LCCF 2026 offers stakeholders an invaluable setting to gain knowledge, build professional networks, and capitalize on prospective ventures within the mining supply chain.
She underscored that the rigorous implementation of the local content policy remains fundamental to ensuring that indigenous citizens participate fully in economic activities generated by the extractive industry.
In accordance with statutory mandates, an evaluation of local content compliance is conducted on a quarterly basis to ensure adherence to relevant legislation, regulations, and guidelines, whilst progressively boosting local involvement across the value chain.
To ensure broad access and regulatory oversight, the Mining Commission continues to extend its services across all 30 mining regions nationwide.
These services encompass delivering educational outreach, offering strategic advice, and supervising compliance with statutory procurement frameworks.
Dr Numbi called upon prospective service providers and vendors aiming to collaborate with mining companies to thoroughly familiarize themselves with, and strictly adhere to, the laws and procedures established by the Mining Commission to maximize their participation.
Reinforcing these remarks, CPA Venance Kasiki noted a marked increase in enthusiasm among Tanzanians seeking to enter the sector.
He revealed that local entrepreneurs and indigenous enterprises are currently supplying approximately 20 distinct categories of goods and services to mining enterprises across the country, signalling strong momentum for domestic economic integration.
