Samia hails progress in governance and anti-corruption efforts

Dar es Salaam. Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has lauded the improved efficiency in government resource management, citing it as evidence of enhanced transparency, accountability, and good governance.

Her remarks came during a ceremony at the State House on March 27, 2025 where she received the 2023-2024 audit report from the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) and the annual performance report from the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB).

President Samia acknowledged persistent challenges but stressed that significant strides had been made in optimising public resources.

“I commend the CAG team for their thorough work, which goes beyond financial audits to assess the effectiveness of projects and institutions. Their findings highlight the impact of government measures,” she said.

The President also praised PCCB’s director general, Crispin Francis Chalamila, for the bureau’s improved performance, noting its role in elevating Tanzania’s standing in the global fight against corruption.

She said there was need to embed anti-corruption education in schools and universities to foster long-term societal change.

President Samia pledged to act on the reports’ recommendations to further strengthen governance.

The event, mandated by the Tanzanian Constitution, marks a key step in ensuring governmental accountability.
